I translates to some point in my dreams .........
anniedog: Yes, there is definitely a dreamlike quality in the photograph.
I must say Ingrid, this could be a view of Salford painted by Lowry. A fantastic picture. I think it is the best of your pictures that I have seen.
anniedog: Thank you very much Frances. I can see how you made the connection with Lowry and his little stick-like figures. I find these utopian representations endlessly fascinating, partly because you just know the reality will not be able to live up to it!

And has that gasometer been turned into some sort of trendy accomodation Ingrid?
anniedog: Yes, I'm afraid that is the intention! All the gasometers have now been dismantled for renovation and then will be re-erected on a different part of the site. The idea is to have some sort of leisure facility in the main one and the others will be used as a structure for apartments. I think they should just have left them as they are! You can see the plans here http://www.kingscrosscentral.com/gasholdertriplet and http://www.kingscrosscentral.com/gasholderno8
Yes Lowry
anniedog: Lowry comes to Kings Cross!
Looks like something from a 1930's Sci Fi annual
anniedog: If you don't know what it is, all those dark figures do look vaguely threatening!

Where are the hoodies, the drunks, the vagrants, the migrants with the wheelie suitcases and the Big Issue sellers in this new utopia?

I do like the intrusion of the ivy though, nature always wins in the long run.
anniedog: I'm sure they will be there aplenty when the scheme translates into reality. I have made a point of trying to show how nature exerts its influence throughout the work I am doing on this project.
I hope the reality matches up to the architects visual promises.
anniedog: I'm hoping that it will be more human as I find these renditions rather soulless!

Interesting to speculate in this picture, where real life begins and ends. An excellent picture all over.
anniedog: Thanks Louis - that was my intention. I have plenty more along these lines.

It looks like one of those fancy CGI things beloved by our city planners. I like the hanging ivory to bring some reality to the scene.
anniedog: That's precisely what it is. It remains to be seen whether the reality bears any resemblance to this fiction!

loving this!
anniedog: Thanks very much Paul. More in this series here if you are interested - I add to it on a regular basis http://ingridnewton.tumblr.com/
Looks like an architect presentation for a very expensive political project. Very interesting.
anniedog: Yes - it is an architect's impression of a very expensive development going on in London's King's Cross area.
