This lovely series is ticking all the boxes for me, technically and artistically. Excellent.
anniedog: Thank you so much David. It's good to know that my work is being appreciated!
Ingrid
Good lines! The subdued light fits the musical theme very well.
anniedog: Thank you Martin. It was the late afternoon sunlight hitting the sheet of music which drew my attention.
Ingrid
The light falls perfectly on the music.
anniedog: Thank you for your observation Red Pen.

This feels like a tribute to my deceased mother, Ingrid, who was an accomplished pianist. Her "absence" is sorely felt.
anniedog: Oh, I'm very pleased that you have had such a personal response to this. This just shows how the interpretation is in the eye of the beholder.
Ingrid
Perfect light Ingrid.
anniedog: Thank you Aussi - glad you like it.

I just get the feeling that good as these are I want to see the original prints.
anniedog: Thank you Bill. You are correct in thinking that the prints are superior. I always think that b/w images suffer on the web - they never look as good as colour ones. Perhaps if we all meet up one day, you can see them!

What an absolutley wonderful series Ingrid, I'd love to see them all mounted and in the flesh, I can't even begin to imagine how you manage to get such perfect light without being able to take a shot and refer to the histogram etc, I certinly wish I had some of that knowledge.
anniedog: Thank you Padraig - I'm so pleased to be getting this appreciation. The exposure is really just a matter of practice and getting to know your camera/film/light meter. I take a lot more care getting it right with film as there is no possibility of checking it out on the viewfinder as with digital! At first it was a bit hit or miss, but I have more success now, though by no means all come out as I envisage.

This is been a really wonderful series... I love the subtle lighting. Really great shots...
anniedog: Thank you so much Mark. I'm glad you are enjoying them.
Ingrid
Very, very nice. I am loving this theme
anniedog: Thanks Brian - glad you are appreciating it.
Ingrid
I love the subtle lighting and DOF here Ingrid. It gives a nice mysterious atmosphere!
anniedog: That's what I was aiming for, so thank you Richard.
Ingrid
Absence....yes, I can feel it...
It's very beautiful in a tenderly way (not sure if that is the right word)
anniedog: Thank you Aksel - I'm pleased you can feel the absence - tender is a very appropriate word in this case. This particular absence refers to my friend's daughter who played this piano a lot and has now left home for univeristy.
Ingrid
Excellent Ingrid - I really like the lighting.
anniedog: Thank you Bernie - glad you like it as the lighting is one of the main elements of these pictures.
Ingrid
Simply wonderful.
For me, a perfect photograph
anniedog: Thanks very much - that is praise indeed!
Ingrid
Another good one Ingrid, I hope the people who judge your work are as impressed as we are on SC.
anniedog: Thanks Brian - I hope so too!
Ingrid
I wish I could hear something from a slightful mournful Schubert piano sonata ... Alfred Brendel playing would do nicely.

anniedog: I don't think the Shutterchance site is quite up to that yet - maybe sometime in the future! That is precisely the kind of music that this conjures up for me as well.
Ingrid
another picture with beautiful tones, but I don't think this one is as compositionally strong as the others in the series. That is not to say that I wouldnt be over the moon if I had managed to create this image
anniedog: Thanks for your comments Paul - I was a bit constrained for space when I did this - couldn't move the camera and certainly couldn't shift the piano, so perhaps that is it! I must say I was quite pleased with the strong diagonal and the cropping of the music sheet.
Ingrid
great blogging again ingrid
anniedog: thank you very much again DrA.W
Ingrid
This is a sophisticated capture of reflected light annieingrid 2008. Especially the music sheet.
anniedog: Thanks Chad - I was particularly struck how the light reflected off the music sheet and the top of the piano.
Ingrid
You master this very very well, brilliant atmosphere, just love it.
anniedog: Thanks once again Astrid - I must be getting the atmosphere right then!
Ingrid
Just wonderful! The lines, the light and the out-of-focus window that for me is the most wistful element (looking out from within part).
anniedog: Thank you Karima - I think you have hit the nail on the head about the looking out from within. There is a strong nostalgic feel to this.
