shadows 07
portrait of my mother

Great 'portrait'. Love when the image is a little less 'literal' than expected. It tells so much more of a story.
Wonderful light and shadow.
anniedog: Thanks Marcie. This is partly because my mother hates having her photograph taken! But I do agree with you - sometimes a part tells much more than the whole.

This one I love, I had to smile for I just piked up the morning paper.
The shadows are a treat, great atmosphere, this could be a scene of a movie about treason in politics....which 'they' think is quite normal. A likey to me.
anniedog: Thanks for your compliments Astrid. This wasn't set up at all - she just happened to be reading this page and the light fell just like you see it - serendipity! Sometimes I think my best photos are just a matter of pure luck!
Ingrid
I see she is enjoying the article on "Brown's Blunders"! ;o)
anniedog: I'm surprised she can bear to read about him - she hates him so much!
Ingrid
I like this one! But did you mean to show that you want all politicians behind bars
anniedog: Thanks Nigel - I wouldn't be averse to putting a few of them behind bars! BTW, I've always wondered how you manage to combine the gym with commenting on SC!
Ingrid
This is one of your best.
anniedog: Thanks Bill - I like this one too.
Ingrid
This is delightful for me Ingrid ... but I reckon you would sort have guessed that anyway.
richard
anniedog: Thanks Richard. I know you like this kind of observational picture - it was just taken very casually one morning whilst visiting my parents.
Ingrid
This is tremendous stuff Ingrid: I just hope you can shake some inspiration into Mike!
anniedog: Thanks Chris. I'll pass on your message! I don't know what's got into him, but I'm coming to Bath this weekend, so maybe I can persuade him to come out and take some photographs!
Ingrid
Beautiful - less is more - sometimes....
Like the colour tone is this one - especially that it's not any warmer...
anniedog: Glad you like this - the colour is just as it was taken - Venetian blinds casting a lot of cool shadows.
Ingrid
I love this one Ingrid. It leaves our imagination wandering!
anniedog: Thanks Richard. You can imagine loads about politicians, most of it not very nice!
Ingrid
I love this one, it says so much
anniedog: Thank you Paul - it says a lot about our politicians and how we see them!
Ingrid
You've done it again Ingrid, another excellent shot a lot of us just wouldn't have seen.
anniedog: Thank you Brian - I just happened to be in the right place at the right time!
Ingrid
superb shot indeed Ingrid, maybe Mike isn't keen on living in the shadows so to speak
anniedog: Thanks Tim - glad you like it.
This is interesting and the title, using portraiture losely. I like the hand and the Telegraph declaring a certain view of the world. The shadows here energise this image.
anniedog: You are spot on about the Telegraph view of the world in this case! Thanks for your insightful observations.
